I've written on this site and social media that the goal of my art work and business is to spread Positivity. I just love how Dolly Parton does that through her work. It's her brand! There are several good Dolly quotes, so this probably won't be the only piece I do where I quote her.
The background for this piece is the sheet music for "I Will Always Love You." A few facts about the song: She wrote it in 1974, and it went to No. 1, then she re-recorded it in 1982 for the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and it went to No.1 again. In 1992, Whitney Houston recorded it for the film, The Bodyguard, and her version hit No. 1 on the pop charts and became one of the best-selling singles of all time. Parton and Vince Gill took the song to No. 15 as a duet in 1995, which also earned them a CMA award for Vocal Event of the Year.
Which version is your favorite? As much as I love Dolly, Whitney's version is one of my all time favorites.
The piece on the lower left is quartz. The gold curves on the right are a gold earring that I cut in half because I lost its match. The butterfly is 3D, made from modeling paste, painted, and collaged with pictures of butterfly wings.
