When I was thinking about what to write for this piece, I came across an article that lists ways to be kind. Here are a few of what it included plus some of my own:

    • Say please and thank you.
    • Let someone go first through a door.
    • Hand someone the tissues (not just the box) when they are crying.
    • Hold up your hand in thanks when other drivers let you through.
    • Let drivers who need to get into your lane in front of you.
    • Pay for the coffee or meal order for the person in line behind you.
    • Write a hand written thank you note.
    • Tip servers well.
    • Volunteer.
    • Let someone go ahead at the checkout.
    • Really listen with all your heart without interrupting.
    • Say, "I'm sorry for [my behavior]," and do not add, a "but...."
    • Wear, use or display a gift someone gave you while you are in their presence.
    • Leave hand written messages of love where they will be found.
