Namaste
Namaste
Besides the definition on the piece, which I think is a profoundly beautiful thing to say to someone, it is also a simple way of saying, “greetings.”
This piece is 12” x 6” on an art board.
The Story of This Piece
It started with a layer of gesso (like primer) on 6 x 12 inch birchwood cradleboard. I added multiple layers of acrylic paint. The “NAMASTE” letters were made in Photoshop. Each letter was made from a picture from the Hubble telescope.
I took a picture of the background, imported it into Photoshop, and added the words about the sacred. They are glued, using matte medium, to a grosgrain ribbon. The gold dots were made with a gold leaf pen. The gold at the bottom was made with fabric paint, which creates a 3-D effect.
There is a layer of glass beads.
Lastly, I painted the sides a deep blue and finished with spray varnish.
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.
